Title: Cool faux Alembic body
Post by: staemius on December 20, 2004, 07:13:52 PM
Check out this faux body I recently purchased.  So...anyone know how to build a guitar, lol.  Actually, I would like to learn some things - but don't won't to mess up this wood with a first timer try.  Any advice regarding neck work would be particularly helpful - I'll be looking to buy and then have someone install.

James:

So you're tarheelbred?  You got a very interesting body - a very cool DIY.  One thing I noticed on the e-bay pictures that seemed a little unusual was the two holes in the neck pocket.  Most bolt-ons use 3 or 4 screws.  Having experience with both Fender 4 and 3 bolt necks, I would strongly recommend using 4 bolts.  My friend's 3 bolt neck strat seems to move a hair if you really dig in.  Be sure to post some pix when you complete it.

Bill, tgo

Thanks Bill - that concerned me as well.  There's an 'Up/down' two screw option (to adjust the neck) - but you seldom see it, and I reckon for good reason - hope it will support a 4 screw.
