Title: Warming up my Alembic/Walter Woods setup?
Post by: jigme on January 30, 2005, 02:13:29 PM
I'm looking for a small box to warm up my Alembic/Walter Woods and wonder what people here have found useful?

I'm very interested in the Fulltone Bassdrive or SIB! Fatdrive.  Anyone have experience with these?

Hey Jeffrey,

I can't say the I have had experience with the Fulltone.  I've been using two things though.
The first is an Ampeg SVT-DI which is a tube direct box.  You can put a tube stage between your bass and the amp as well as send a tube signal to the FOH.  This is a great piece but it's almost as big as your WW and it runs about $400

The other thing I've been using is the Bass Exciter from Aphex.  This supposedly adds bass and highs to your sound without adding any gain.  This is a cool pedal that might help you out.
Here are the links

Peace,
Dino

I told you, man, send me the WW and you'll have my wonderfully warm-sounding Ampeg B100-R posthaste (grin).
Try a Bellari tube mic preamp...I used one on a CD project some years back that added warm and wonderful grit.

kungfu--

yeah, I remember your generous offer awhile back ;0), but I'm keepin' the Woods!

Thanks for the info on the Bellari! Man, there are a lot of options out there!
