Great reading about the Funkiest basslines. But I think something that would really be educational is What is the most overused and abused bassline? No fair using anything from the disco era. I register BARNEY MILLER as my vote.

The theme from Peter Gunn. It somehow appears in a lot of songs.....

My vote (and any of you who are honest will cop to this):
That darn 'bucketofbolts' figure in walking bass under shuffles. You know the one . . .
1-3-4-4#-5-(quick eighth-note arpeg down to the five an octave down)-5-6-7-1.
. . . you know you've done it. . . it's OK . . . it'll just be between us. I won't tell your mother.
Say, did I tell you about my vibration treatment for your bass?

Cream - Sunshine of your Love - People who have never played a bass before in their lives will automaticly pick out the opening riff.

The opening riff of Je t'aime, moi non plus (sorry US this is a EU thing) of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin.
Paul the bad one
