I'd like to get some views regarding string construction. I was having a look around the Status website earlier today and it seems that they are now making strings. Has anyone got any experience of these strings or something similar to these strings from a construction point of view?
ROUND-WOUND HEX-CORE STRINGS
As the name suggests, these strings have a round wrap over a hexagonal core. This produces a string with a conventional 'feel'. This is the preferred production method used by many string companies.
PREMIUM ROUND-WOUND ROUND-CORE STRINGS
These 'Premium Round-Core' strings are produced with both a round wrap and a round core. This design is more difficult to produce but results in a string with a more flexible 'feel' with a clearer tone which will last longer than any standard string.
How are Alembic strings constructed?
Cheers,

String construction is a black art with lots of variables. A good insight is found at
http://bunnybass.com/e-zine/interviews (http://bunnybass.com/e-zine/interviews)
where you'll find an interview with Kevin Reynolds, a honcho with Thomastik-Infeld in America. He discusses guages, windings, cores, metallurgy, etc., from T-I's point of view. I'm sure each manufacturer has their own outlook, but it's a fascinating read from the standpoint of just how many things go into it.

Here's a good article that appeared in Bass Player a few years back that you might find interesting. They even quote Mica about Alembic strings.
