Can anyone shed any light on some of the finer details of these 20th anniversary instruments?

I used to have one of those instruments too. Mine was made in 1989 and was serial number 001. It was a great instrument. I could be wrong, but I think that they were only available in maple or walnut. Mine was a maple one with purpleheart accents, and a maple core. The electronics are set up like the series basses with a volume and filter for each pickup. The output jack is a stero one, with a stereo/mono switch located next to the jack. I regret selling mine. I had Alembic make me a custom in year 2000 and it was based on the 20th Anniversary model with series 1 features. It is a cool bass, and was a featured custom. Just go look for the featured custom called Retro Appeal...Michael

Any offers as to what this bass is worth on the used market?

The guy I bought my Mark King from has just bought this bass. It is absolutely mint, not a mark anywhere.
The seller must have been in dire financial straights as he let ot go for ?1000 !!!
