Title: Alembic Bumper Sticker
Post by: stoney on June 13, 2005, 10:05:52 AM
Do you think that maybe we could convince the good folks as Alembic to produce a bumper sticker that says:

My other bass is an ALEMBIC  ?

Naturally this would go nicely on my Fender Jazz case. I'm pretty sure most of us use at least one of these.

Stoney,
I would rather go for:
Only two beauties are touched by my hands:
my wife and my Alembic (s)

I don't ask to borrow your wife, don't ask to borrow my Alembic.

If you value your life as much as I value my Alembic, don't mess with it.

I'd prefer a license plate frame with the Alembic logo and Alembic in script on the top.

This one might work too:

My other wife is an Alembic

That might be good on a t-shirt too.

Perfect!

Large Alembic logo with:

My other wife is an
       Alembic

The Alembic in the traditional Alembic font.

In a 3XL sweatshirt.

I like it too, that is if you don't get rear-ended because the fool behind you is trying to figure out what it says.

Then again that presents some rather interesting whip-lash po$$ibilities.

Yep, I'll order another ALEMBIC just as soon as I cash that big fat check, thank you very much!!.....(Mica, you reading any of this?)

The license plate frame has to be made out of wood.

The plate frame will need to be made of Maple and Ebony laminates with Coco Bolo face.

I was thinking chromed or nickel plated brass, myself.

I can't imagine Alembic Wolmanizing anything.

I'm wondering if it is close enough to wolf to draw the attention of a certain member (who shall remain nameless).

How about

My wife let me have an Alembic

or

I have the World's Greatest Wife - she let me have the World's Greatest [guitar] [bass]: Alembic

I suspect that may hit a little closer to home for many of us.

I think I would definitely vote for (and buy) Bill togo's second offering above.  1955 Aries's have pretty good ideas.

How about ....

Fender Jazz Deluxe ... $1250...
Fender Precision MIA, $1000 ...
Warwick Thumb ... $1000 ...

The look on everyone's face when you whip out your Alembic ... priceless ....

For everything else, there is only one bass ... Alembic ...

Prices are guesses, so I might be wrong.  You get the gist of it though ...

Brad, I meant the March-April, 1955 birthdays.  I don't know what Chrysler Corp. was doing during the 1950s.  I was probably just cruising the neighborhood in my red wagon.
Bill, your wife is right.  Mine would like the sweat shirt but would add, I hope you know that was your string money you spent on this shirt.  She is so tolerant of my GAS problem, she has earned the right to make a few comments.  Of course, Spousal Termination Of Purchasing (STOP) temporarily puts the brakes on GAS, at least in my house.

Sorry, Brad.  You are right.  I think I left a cord plugged into my jokegitter over the weekend and the battery went dead.  Yeah, that's what happened.

With all respect, but in my life my wife is and will always be unique and my very only one. Calling the Alembic my other wife wouldn't do justice to either one. Especially since I feel an Alembic instrument can never be the other one, it will always be THE main one (just not the wife, that is). Funny, do female players call their instruments husbands?

In my opinion, Alembic doesn't require any tag line, just the name. Anything else would make it look like a supermarket product.

Just my opinion of course.

Just for clarification.

Here's the joke behind the my other wife thing:

In the US, many people have bumper stickers and license plate frames that are some variation of my other car is a Rolls Royce.

There's a standing joke about my wife being a bass guitar.

It was meant as a joke.  I never meant to imply that an inanimate object would somehow attain the level of the woman that I married.

I'm sorry if this caused anyone any distress; it was just an (apparently poor) attempt at humor.

Brad, sorry we?re making your humorous comments into so much work for you.  I?m more guilty than the rest here.  I can't even blame it on a culture barrier.  Does diminished cerebral function work as a good excuse?

I'm not fat; I'm just big boned*.

That calls to mind a famous Winston Churchill quote, replying to a society matron who berated him for being tipsy: Mr.Churchill you are drunk!
To which he answered : And you, madam, are ugly. But tomorrow, I shall be sober.

The way I heard it was that the society matron said, If I were married to you, I would poison your food.

To which he replied, If I were your husband, I would eat it.

ALEMBIC: After playing one, everything else is anti-climactic.

ALEMBIC: All others seem like 2x4s.

ALEMBIC: You could play something else, but why?

Guys, Alembic has a cafepress store full of logo-branded gear.  While there isn't a bumper sticker currently in the alembicstuff catalog, I'm sure Mica would be up for adding it, if there was enough interest.

I really want an embroidered ballcap.  A really high quality one (as befits the logo).

I didn't see one on the cafepress site.  My experience has been that cafepress isn't always the best in terms of quality.
