Hi I have a 95 Epic 5 string and a 88 Persuader 4 string. The Epic pick-ups are much more active , hotter than the Persuader pick-ups. When I change basses during performance I have very little time in between tunes to re-adjust the amp. (I'm runnimg an Ampeg SVT PRO 5) If I forget to hit the active button to reduce the input on the amp the Epic totally overloads the channel. The Persuader's pickups are perfect for the non-active setting on the amp even though all Alembics are active. I assume it's because of old electronics. Is there a way to balance the outputs of these basses so i don't need to worry about readjusting the amp? I could fool with the volume knob on the Epic and run the Persuader full however any added dickering I have to do between songs hurts the flow of the bands performance. Thanks for any advice you guys may have!!

hi i have an idea take off your back plate and inside you should be able to see a small blue trim pot if you have never seen one before it is a small blue square with a white circle in the middle this controls the output gain if you turn the white circle anti clockwise this will reduce the output gain and should do the trick. its great ghow these basses can be controled in so many ways hopes this helps

Thanks a lot Andrew. I'll try that today!

Also with the Persuader, if it has the PJ configuration, it seems that the J produces a relatively weak signal, while the P does just the opposite. Don't know if Persuaders have separate trimpots for each pickup, perhaps it would be easiest to change the level on the Epic (which has a single trimpot).

One the Epic and the Persuader there is usually just one overall gain adjustment.
We usually set the P pickup pretty low and the JZ pickup pretty high because of the volume difference. Of course, you can set them anyway you like if the difference in volume isn't an issue for you.

I used the trimpot in the Epic, put it side by side with the Persuader and balanced them out. Worked like a charm! I also run the P pickup on the Persuader real low to balance it volume wise with the JZ pickup. So I'm all set and in good shape now. Thank you all for your help!!!!!!
