In my neverending quest for the perfect tone, I have tested many RIG configurations and cannot seem to find a good mix of equipment. I am currently putting together a rig for my Alembics. I use mostly Series I, and II basses. I would like to know what do you think are the best components to look for in putting together the best Rig. What do you have vs what would you like.

The traditional end-of-the-world all Wickersham rig would be . . .
Series power supply
f2b or f1x preamp
sf2 super filter
ELF integrator
serious power amp
high pass cabs
Elf subs
Good cables
... after that, it's WIDE open. I can not think of a time when there's been more choices. SVTs are REALLY back. All the litlle toy-sized amps and cabinets that put out huge sound. Tube. Solid State. Hybrids. 21 subs. Digital Modeling.
I guess it all depends on the usual suspects:
Budget?
The Tone You Seek?
How Much Are You Willing to Tote Around?
What Do You Need for Your Gigs?
Good Luck !

I have found to my ear The F1X with SF2 in the effects loop coupled with a PLX3400 sounds the best. I'm using Spoilers 4-5-6&7, Excel 5's, an SC Deluxe 4, Distillate 5, Rouge 5, (13 Alembics in all) as well as a Ric 4003, Tbird, Stambaugh 4, Ripper and an Ovation Acoustic/electric. I either use Epifani T310 - T115 cabs or Acme Low B2 and B4 cabs. But I mostly have to use a provided SVT rig when I play clubs. As has been stated in previous threads, your rig is really just an on stage monitor when you have a big system. That's why I like the DI on the F1X so at least I know the engineer is getting my source sound. I also liked the Glockenklang stuff I've tried at NAMM last year.

Thanks all, I really appreciate all of the great information. I am sure there are other members that need information like this. I will put to use, and let you know how it all turns out.
