FWIW, If you're a Dan Fan like me, this should be a good show. I just got my tix for NJ...I got in on the schmaltzy Five-Star VIP offer...up-front tix, sound-ck access, pre-show party, etc. Reg tix go on sale this weekend. Here's the email text I got:
Heads up that special VIP Ticket Packages for Donald's shows below
are going on sale today.
Follow the links from http://www.donaldfagen.com (http://www.donaldfagen.com) In the case you get
this at the last minute . the password you will lneed is probably
morph no quotes but get one on your own if you have time in
advance, just to be sure.
Depending on venue, prices vary from $130 to $350 + fees/taxes, where
applicable. NYC shows are the most expensive; NJ and Chicago are
among the cheapest.
Note to Chicago fans; it appears there will be no WXRT pre-sale.
Of course remember, these are the VIP tickets; regular tickets go on
sale this Saturday or Monday for these same shows. Check
http://www.donaldfagen.com (http://www.donaldfagen.com) for more info.

I like Donald Fagen's music, but at $130.00 - $350.00 a pop, I'll listen to my vinyl/cd's. Prices like that...seems like a Rock & Roll swindel to me.

OK . . . where's Walter? What happened?

Paul:
Those are the premium tix prices, not the regular seat prices. Concerts ain't cheap these days...come to think of it, neither is anything else, LOL!
Joey:
They're both doing the solo thing this year. The Fagen thing should be cool...a new solo cd is imminent and between Nightfly and Kamakiriad tunes and some Dan stalwarts, this promises to be cooler than the NY Rock and Soul Review.

Well, as usual, BOTH of their damn websites are cryptically oblique (my what an elegant phrase . . .). Walt standing there with his Sadowsky Jazz reminded what a fine bassist he is, THEN he turns around and plays the nicest leads and fills. One of these days, Joey, you've got to work up 'Gaslighting Abbie' . . . but I suppose this ain't the day.

Well, the Dan have always been eccentric, to put it mildly. When I think of Messrs. Fagen And Becker, I think of that horrible '80's pop ditty by Huey Lewis (and HIS News, LOL!): Hip To Be Square, LOL! Gotta love 'em though.
Too bad Becker doesn't play Alembic. Well, in all fairness, neither did any of the stellar sidemen that contributed to the Dans recorded legacy, to my knowledge. As a consolation, I imagine it wouldn't be the same for Jon Herrington to try to do justice to Larry Carlton's parts without his Gibson CS-336/356 (Custom Shop Version of the ES-335/355).

Joey,
Try Steely Dan's Website...it's also a hoot.

They do put on a great show...great vibe...sort of like being in the presence of Jazz/Rock Royalty, LOL!
