Your comment reminds me of a funny story. A number of years ago I was at the Fillmore in San Francisco for a Neville Brothers show. Prior to the show my friend and I were upstairs in the large room where they have hundreds of posters lining all four walls. My friend was kidding me about how much better their collection was than mine. A little later the opening band had finished and we were waiting for the Nevilles when they made an announcement that the building next door (the old People's Temple) was on fire. They told us there was nothing to worry about, but that everyone should CALMLY and SLOWLY head for the exit. (Yes, I was in the proverbial crowded theater when someone yelled fire). As we were leaving we could smell smoke. As we exited there were police yelling at us to quickly run across the street. The building next door was engulfed in flames reaching at least 100 feet up. Geary Blvd. (a MAJOR thoroughfare) was closed and it seemed as if every firetruck in the city was there. As my friend and I stood watching from across Geary, observing the smoke engulf the Fillmore, I commented that maybe my collection was now comparable to the Fillmore's after all! Luckily the Fillmore only sustained smoke damage, the posters were o.k., and I got a credit which I turned into CSN tickets as I recall. I've been collecting the old posters for years, back when I could get them at the flea market for $10 each, 3 for $25! One of my better investments, though I never thought they would be valuable some day, I just liked the psychedelic art.
