Had a great time hanging out with Valentino today. I got a chance to see some really cool instruments and as always a nice visit with all the good folks at Alembic. You will notice James working on a special project this is how they create magic at Alembic! Rory

Wow! Cool pics! Lots of neat stuff!
Thanks Rory!
-
Wow!
I so wish I could visit the mothership with about 50 large and a BIG trailer!

Oh, my goodness!
Look at the inlays on the triple-O!
And what kind of wood is that on the Skylark???
And Bill, there's your Further behind the amazing 12-string redwood monster!
Great pics, Rory!
P.S.
Are the ladies back from their trip yet?

Heat gun on a sammich! I love it!
Great pics indeed, Rory!

There's a Kit guitar!

Rory:
Great pictures. Especially the second one up. I really like the guitar hanging behind the bass that's in front. The one where you can see the Scales of Justice inlay. hehehehehehe
It's also comforting to know the place hasn't gone to hell in a hand basket with all the women folk out of town.

I wonder how I can convice my wife to take a weeks vacation and head west so I can sneak in a visit to THE SHOP. To bad Dooney & Burke doesn't have a plant next door to Alembic. (SIGH)
-
Bill
I really like your inlays, great job! The women are out of the shop and you can tell. It is like someone has open the door to freedom. Even Ron was smiling! I must admit though it was kind of strange not having Susan in her office on the phone or Mary offering coffee or Mica in her office at the computer.
Olie, there is a Coach outlet right down the road along with Saks Fith Ave. Just a thought!

It's great wine country, too!

Thanks for the pix Rory! Us right coaster's have to live vicariously through the locals who can visit the mothership and bring us great pix like these. BTW, It's good to have you back here where you most certainly belong.
Cheers,
Kevin
P.S., What's up with that non-Alembic EUB? Is that a NSD?
-
Thanks for the pics Rory!
Im guessing that's Val w/ your Counting Crow's fretless.... nice bass!!!!
WHAT'S THE TOP ON THAT SKYLARK?!?!?!??!
(if that's Zebrawood, it's a sick piece)
-
OK, so what's the powder BLUE one and what about that Steinberger upright?

There's an FTC thread on the powder blue Spoiler - set neck, and - if memory serves me right - with the backplate to be mounted on the top.

Adam strikes again (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=7734)
-
yes whats with the steinbrenner?
-
Mike:
I stopped off at the factory when I got out of court early in Santa Rosa yesterday. The Skylark is indeed Zebrawood - and an extremely exceptional piece, IMHO. I got to play it yesterday. Very bright guitar and absolutely gorgeous.

Ah, didn't one club member recently acquire an NSD EUB?
-
Flax got one not that long ago.
graeme

So this wouldn't be his, judging by his post here.
-
No, Jeff's just wondering what to expect from the Yankees...

The NSD belongs to a friend who had us do a bit of maintenance to it. He wanted to have finish on the fingerboard because he frets pretty hard and he had worn deep grooves in it. So we sanded it down and put some finish on it; usually, we do not work on other manufacturers' instruments. Since the owner is a friend of one of our guys we made an exception in this case.
The Zebrawood Skylark is going to be for sale at Guitar Resurrection in Austin within a few days; as Bill said, an exceptional guitar.

Rory, it's nice to hear from you again, and the pictures are awesome -especially the Zebrawood skylark.
Hope all is well, and hope you're not selling all your Alembics -that would be a terrible shame.
-
Hey Guys
I am glad you enjoyed the pictures. It was nice to see all the instruments in different forms of transition.
Val is the go between for the new owner of the fretless Series II. Val agreed to put it through its paces for the new owner. If you look very close you will see Val execute his favorite Jaco lick. If you blink you will miss it!
My favorite bass is my Series I four string and it ain't going no where! I will miss my other basses but the fact is they were not getting played and I much rather see them go to players than sit in my house and collect dust. I know the new owners will enjoy them as much as I enjoy my Series I.

Rory, the last time I been to the Alembic Sandwich House was 1983 when they were on foley street,,,,,good to see that your health is doing OK & always keep an alembic by your side, how many do you have now?
-
Keavin
I still have two Alembics so life is good. I tried to get up to Reno to see you but there were schedule conflicts so I could not make it. I thought I would surprise you and old number 12. Take care!
Rory

I'll be @ the Eldorado Hotel/Casino this weekend in the 'cabaret room' the 8th 9th 10th Reno,...so if any alembicians happens to be in the area stop in & dance to the alembic! http://musicole.tripod.com/id11.html (http://musicole.tripod.com/id11.html)

Val, whenever you go on vacation . . . can I come out and fill in while you're gone and test drive all the axes before they go out the back door, keep things moving 'till you return?
I work REAL cheap and do a pretty good Italian accent!
