Title: Mysteriously disappearing accounts
Post by: David Houck on March 06, 2010, 05:34:36 PM
There appears to be a bug in our board's software.  I know of two cases for sure, and I suspect a third, of member accounts being deleted from the board.  In all three cases, the accounts belonged to members who had joined within the last few months.  Initial research I've done indicates that a few other groups using this software have had disappearing accounts as well, but with different fact patterns.  I've alerted Mica to the problem; but I wanted to go ahead and post something here so that if you're a fairly new member, and your account is suddenly deleted, it wasn't something that was done intentionally.  If this has happened to you, email Mica and me.  At the moment, I'm guessing that if your account does disappear, there's nothing to be done except to create a new account.

Ghost in the machine!  Love it!

Thanks Flip!  I think I did notice that at some point; but it must have been late at night, 'cause I completely forgot about it.  I'm guessing the two are connected, and that the problem is not yet solved.

Actually Flip, I don't know that it's not fixed.  The two instances that were reported to me were both emailed to me after the February 2nd date of the post you cited.  However, in none of the three cases I mentioned was there a post from an eventually deleted account that was made after February 2nd.  So, I don't know.
