Today is the 64th anniversary of Jerry Garcia's birth.
I, for one, still need him, and I still karmically feed him.
Happy birthday out there, Cap'n Trips! You are greatly loved and missed. Thanks for all the good times, pleasure, and pure bliss you have brought into my life lo these many years.
Bill, tgo

Bill,
I've never really listened to much of the Grateful Dead and none of Jerry's solo material. It's more just lack of self-exposure...not that I detested what I heard and wanted nothing more to do with it. Big difference! I've loved a number of different artists and bands over the years (not to mention ladies!), though none have moved me the way you so fondly speak of Jerry. I feel like I've missed out on something...I'm jealous.
Regards...and peace,
Jonathan

Jerry has had, and continues to have profound affects on my life. I don't think there has been a single day in the past 17 years or so that I haven't thought of him and his music.
Not that I knew him personaly, but Jerry was incredibly genuine and charismatic. You can go to youtube.com and watch some of his televised interviews over the years. He is truly enjoyable to listen to, a rare trait in such an artistically talented individual.

The Fat Man rocked!
Long live Jerry.

Jonathan - self-exposure? I thought that was illegal. Granted: as are many of the usual Dead-head indulgencies.

Yes, there is so much I would not have in life if not for Jerry...my bass player is fond of saying Jerry wanted you to have that guitar re: Further becuase without Jerry (and the others in the band) there would be no Alembic, and consequently no Further.
Hope you are well Birthday-Spudboy! I feel you watching...

I can't profess to being a Dead fan, but I do admire Jerry's ability with a brush. Unlike most of the 80's muscians turned artiste' craze, Jerry had ability.
Years ago I was presented with a silk tie version of one of his paintings It never fails to get a reaction,
Oh, that. It's a Garcia.
From New York?
No, from the Dead.
Stops them every time.
Happy Birthday, Jerry.
