Please tell me what you think of this:

To me it looks like a seam of the 3 piece maple neck... Can you post a picture which will show more of that neck?

I think it looks like a seam too. Notice how the maple grain is NOT continuous through the crack/seam. If it was a crack, the grain would continue.

Yep seems like a seam to me. (Sorry, couldn't help the pun) Too straight to be a crack and the grain of the wood is different.
THe orange peel finish on the body, is that normal?

doesn't there need to be a tool belt involved before any crack is visible?

Thanks all, it seemed like a seam to me just after I posted Thing is: the grain kinda does match, I think that is what threw me. Also in the mean time the seller told me the seam seems a little rough.

Ollie.
it looks like an epic to me in which case it will be the early satin finish which shows up the grain alot more than the current finish. Mine is the same as the above.
Phylo.
You'll probably notice a ridge where the maple laminates join. This is due to uneven shrinkage of the woods and is normal (albeit surprising in such an expensive instrument). Again, mine's the same. It's just the wood remembering that it was once alive.
