...for I have sinned.
I bought a non Alembic this weekend. The bass is one piece completely, entirely made of a substance called SoundCompound
I'ts a Catalyst Tigris from a Dutch company and it's wicked!:

Wow...I dig group shots. ...What is the F-hole 6 in the background? (BTW..I'm glad you still have The Ripper!)....
-
Cool new axe Flip. I always like the nostalgic look.
I used to have a Gibson similar to your Ripper but mine was a Grabber G-3. In high school our lab band bass was a Grabber with the single sliding PU.
-
That's a 1957 Hofner. Sadly the neck is broken where it joins the body... It's a wall decoration now until I have the $$$ for a repair.

I think the Ripper will stay. I love it so much, so my asking price is unreasonable high

Here's another group shot:

...and on the wall I seem to spy a modern art sculpture of The Fractured SG.. Am I right?
-
Totally inspired by PT (The Who) This was (is) a very cheap immitation, the last moments of this guitar were captured on video.
Someday I will send it to the folks in Santa Rosa for a refinish
-
Thanx Olie, I also love that classic look. There's nothing classic in the materials used, we're talkin' high tech here.
Quote:
A group of young engineers of the Delft University of Technology set out to develop a composite material focusing on acoustics in general and resonance in particular. They looked for a material that would equal or even surpass the resonance properties of wood. To make a long story short: they did this by incorporating a ceramic cell structure into the composite material. Thus SoundCompound was born. Other ingredients complete the composite, but a good Chef de Cuisine doesn't tell all his secrets! The ceramic cell structure gives SoundCompound an enormous resonance and sustain.

One of these days we'll get a pic of Rami's collection. That will be something else.

I'm afraid it won't fit on my screen (http://club.alembic.com/Images/clipartuhoh.gif)
Olie:
How about a picture of your full collection?
-
Flip, I've never really taken a family photo of the entire lot. May be the thing to do tonight.

Rememer gentlemen, true I have an addiction that should be listed in the DSM4, but I am very single. No wife, no kids, no pets.
Rami makes me look like a newbie.
-
What does a typical Ripper sound like. Is it comparable to other Gibson basses, like the thunderbird?
