The price of unleaded is down to $2.15 a gallon in Oklahoma City, has it come down anywhere else?

It is $2.49 around the Raleigh, NC area. I paid $2.36 when I was in Kentucky over the Labor Day weekend.

1.65/liter in NZ- that's about $6.35NZ/gallon ($4.19 US).
It was running more like $1.90 a few months back. Pretty steep, but probably not as bad as it is in Europe.

Stop making me jealous....We pay roughly 94pence per litre in the UK that makes a gallon a whopping $7.96027 US.
Now you know why we drive smaller cars.

$2.439 in West Terre Haute. About 40% more than 14 months ago, but well under the $3.209 a couple of months back. In July/August I was paying $1.20 U.S. per liter in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. Not cheap. Makes riding the KLR even more enjoyable!

Diesel fuel was upwards of $3.50/gal out west one month ago when I was in Sturgis, SD for the Bike Rally. I paid $2.75/gal this AM in Central Jersey.
That #2D is more than gasoline is pure contempt and greed by Big Oil as it cost 1/3 the price to refine as gasoline!

For comparison, I was paying around $3.30-$3.40/gal for premium for the Hog out in SD, and it's only 91 Octane!

I don't care, it's still too much.. way too f***ing much! Gas has crept down slower than the way it sky rocketed to what it has become. Anyone remember paying $1.60-$1.80 less than two years ago? Oh yes and Charles, I think I have more gear than you! na na na na naaa! Whooooo!

I agree with you Adam,(about the gas not the gear for I HAVE THE MOSTEST GEAR BUUAAHAHAHAA), the gas is going back down way tooooo slow.

...Dagnapit...I remember the good old gas war days of the early 1970s (before OPEC discovered it ruled the world) when three fuel stations in our little town got the price of gas down to 12-cents per gallon.....I was driving a Honda 175 Scrambler and could drive all week on 50-cents..........I won't say I got the most gear, but If somebody does have more than me they need serious counseling....

$3.09 this morning at the local rip-off 76 station that hasn't got the message everyone else is lowering prices. I dropped my kid of at school and just made it to the station as my DTE read 0. At least Cali can tie Colorado. LOL

Gas in Jacksonville Fl today on the way home was $2.57 for regular unleaded and $2.99 for premium. That's very near the interstate so not to bad relativly speaking.

I remember when I was about 20 years old and gas would hit $0.199 when they would have what we called a gas war. Now gas war has an entirely different meaning. Too bad. I liked the old definition.

Went to $2.47 today.
Do you have to have a lot of gear to be happy? 19 basses, 10 guitars, a medium size PA, monitors, 7 bass cabs, 3 head rigs, 2 guit amp stacks, a banjo, G5 protools studio, boards, modules, mics and a lot of wires. I would say that I'm minor league to many of you. Mind you I do drive a 99 Grand Caravan with no passenger seats. Oh, also I have no savings worth a mention. Hey with all the gas money we save we can send a bass back to Santa Rosa for an LED upgrade!
Please know, our European Brothers that my sympathies are with you on your petrol and gear expenses. A VAT would kill me over here.

Ok Ok, 12 basses, 2 guitars, 3 bass rigs, 5 keyboards(1 which went through a fire and still works!), 3 sets of bass pedals(2-midi type 1 old analog set), 2 keyboard amps, 4 EMU synth units, Radial JD-6 and 1 mandolin. As far as the compensation thing goes, I thought that was relegated to guys who drive 'vette's & hog's,LOL? I mean to say I actually use all my gear except for 9 basses, there's only room for three in our truck.The main reason I was able to acquire my gear was that I did'nt have a home for about 6 years. We are always on the road so it just worked out that way. Oh yes, I paid $2.31 today in Tn. It's still not moving down fast enough!

okay, okay, I confess, the compensation comment was inspired by the little green monster, lol. And no, I don't need to see the doctor about that, thank you very much. 2 basses, 1 head, 1 pre, 1 cab, 1 combo tempered by 1 mortgage, 1 job, a loving wife and 2 kids that need my time and money more than I do (at least that's what THEY tell me). A hobbyist doesn't need much more than that.

I guess I still have GAS even though my family has 6 bass guitars (and a homebrew bass in progress), 1 bass violin, a cello, a viola, about 10 violins, 2 acoustic pianos, an electronic keyboard, 2 banjos, 2 clarinets, 2 trumpets, 3 combo bass amps and a bass cab. I didn't have really bad GAS until I bought my first Alembic. I got spoiled by how bass is supposed to sound.

$2.14 in some podunk town near Oxford,Ms. Drove into Alabama and it was up to $2.49. My singer read where it was .40 cents a gallon in Iraq. But beer has'nt changed and that's a constant I can really appreciate. Olie, here's an IBC to you, your Harley's and many many basses. Cheers all!!

One of our riding buddies is in Iraq (he's not in the military but he signed on to a job where he drives fuel trucks, IN IRAQ, what a SCHMUCK). He's supposed to call me tomorrow, I'll ask him about their price.

I live in the reddist of all states, Utah, the place where the vast majority of sheep... er, I mean voters still give Dubbaya a positive job rating and gas hasn't dropped more than a couple of cents! ( 2.97 for Mid-grade ) Coincidence?

Gas prices in the Netherlands seem to have dropped about 10 eurocents per liter since last month, too.

Diesel has fallen about 6 pence / litre in scotland over the past couple of months. Still twice as expensive as the US ;-(

$3.09 per gallon of biodiesel in seattle. Less than petroleum diessl by a few pennies.
I have been running biodiesel in a 1982 Mercedes 300td for about 2 years now. Anyone else?

This should probobly go on another thread, but I saw Mythbusters run a Mercedes Diesel on STRAIGHT used fryer oil, I'm pretty sure they filtered it though.

You can buy kits that allow you to use food oil. You start the vehicle with regular diesel and then switch over to the used oil once the engine is warmed up. I have read the exhaust smells like french fries. We have a few folks around here that do this. I understand they get the used oil for free since the restaraunt doesn't have to pay to haul it off.
Back to the subject. Gas is down to $2.28.

I'm going to have mexican food for dinner so gas will be back up for the evening. With that said let it be known I produce my own bio-diesel but much like the natural gas that is found pumping for oil in Alaska there is no known safe way to contain it for public use. Sorry guys..........yeeeeehaaaaw!!!!!

I know I'm going to need a fan at the gig when our keyboard player (John) has had chile for lunch. He likes to wander back behind the plexiglas drum screen to produce methane. Wilson, the drummer, does not love this. Gas war of a different, uh, stripe???

FWIW, I haven't seen biodiesel at any station here in Joisey. So far, Cummins isn't endorsing it, and I'm worried about the warrantee on a $16k engine. Meanwhile, diesel is down...paid $2.63 last night...but it's still $0.20 to $0.30 higher than regular unleaded, grrrrrrrrr!

Depends..I work on the outskirts of DC, then drive 50 miles West to Winchester VA for home..the diff? 2.55 in outskirts, 2.23 in Winchester.. and probably lower if I go to Costco, but havent felt like it lately.

You get about the same mileage with biodiesel, unfortunatley that is about 18mpg in my old boat. In addition to adding an addtional tank to run straight vegetable oil (SVO), you can manufacture biodiesel with same stuff (free oil collected from restaurants) and not hafta modify your ride. I have not yet done that, but know group of guys that is doing it with much success.
the only real risk that I am aware of is that your fuel is going to come in contact with some low-grade rubbers/plastics and degrade them. Biodiesel will do this in a hurry! most engines are fine, unless fuel lines etc have been replaced with inferior parts. on the wagon there is a grommet around the fuel spout that has melted from just the drop or two that hits it when filling. Fortunately this just a cosmetic issue.

Maybe so, but the major OEM's are unconvinced. Not being rich, I'm not gonna void my warrantee on a rediculously expensive engine to try and save a few bucks and/or spare a few more dead dino's.

Or could it be their relationship to the oil companies that effects their statements on bio-diesel. If everyone used corn oil for fuel we wouldn't have to wait for elections to see a drop in petroleum products.

Noticing the emergence of newer sub-compacts on the road. Tempting, but would need to take the bass case for a test fit before test driving, lol.

Better would be sugar ethanol. Corn isn't really that efficient (i.e. it takes, at a minimum, a goodly portion of a gallon of oil to produce a gallon of corn ethanol, and some estimates put it above one gallon of oil).
There are some really deep-seated political issues there (corn subsidies vs. sugar taxes).

I was talking about using the corn oil directly not converting it to ethanol. Vegetable oil can be burned directly in a diesel engine or mixed with petroleum diesel. The catch is straight vegetable oil cannot be used to start the engine so the vehicle must be dual fuel. There are folks around here filtering the used oil from restuarants and using it in their diesel cars/trucks. They get the oil for free. I don't know what the coversion costs are.
I've also read of a poultry processor converting their waste to bio-diesel. I believe this is in Missouri. I don't know how well they are doing though. I've also read of a company in Mass. that is taking used restuarant oil and selling it at pumps for cars they have converted to dual fuel.

Is the issue with straight veggie oil that it has to be heated to be viscous enough to make the trip through the fuel pump and injectors? I like the idea of less processing versus more processing (just like I like my bass signal). Maybe my perfect vehicle would run off a pellet stove. ;)
I've been riding the KLR (45-55 mpg) as much as possible, since my truck gets something like 13 mpg no matter how gently I drive it. I can't see how folks around here can afford to drive their 4x4 trucks with mudders and still afford food. I can't imagine having to drive for work, especially someplace like NJ or NYC where you spend a lot of time in traffic. Kevin, you have my sympathies! Maybe your next rig will be a hybrid or fuel-cell jobby, since the indicators are that hybrid technology really shines with larger, heavier vehicles.
I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing steam make a comeback in the small industrial sector, since all you need to generate it is water and a fire (which seems to work well for my local power company). Lots of the neighbors have new outdoor pellet stoves for heating, and I can see using them for generating electricity on the near-horizon.
I paid $2.239 per gallon yesterday for 87 octane at the local Jiffy Mini-Mart.
