Friend forwarded this. Nothing to do with Alembic, but an unusual and beautiful bit of guitar playing. I've never heard of the guy.

WOW, this cats great! There are some other videos of his there too.

That was very nice. I love these acoustic fingerstyle guys. Thanks for the link.

Nice. He's very pleasant to listen to. If you like this kind of playing check out Michael Hedges (may he rest in peace), Alex De Grassi and Kaki King, a young woman getting a lot of attention lately.
Peace
Tom

Wonderful stuff.
Did you see this one? Anybody care to comment on what he's playing? Looks like an acoustic guitar with an extra baritone-ish section added on (harp guitar?).

That was wonderful; thanks, Jack!!

Thanks!

Thanks Jack!
IMHO that is how an acoustic guitar SHOULD sound!
Anyone know the builder??

I am always inspired by these players who show that really all of us have only scratched the surface of what can be done on guitar even though the guitar has been with us for ages. I wonder how bass playing will evolve over time?
I must practice more... :-)
Cool link.

Knock on wood!

Just to add to this, after seeing that same clip on youtube when it was first posted, I actually bought this fella's newest cd, and it's really, really good. Not a bad song on it.
George - the cd booklet says that he uses Ayer's Guitars, Guild Guitars, a Ron Spiller's Harpguitar, and Dean Markley strings, at least for the songs on this album (and the linked song is on the cd).

Yeah, I bought Andy McKee's CD as well...still waiting for it. Thanks for the link, jack.
At first I just thought he was a Michael Hedges clone/wannabee, but he's an excellent player in his own right that's strongly influenced by Michael and others. There's lots of good clips from him on youtube as well as other labelmates of his. Ck out Don Ross, Antoine Dufour et al if you like Hedges or DeGrassi.

FWIW, he lists his gear on his site (Fender Acoustisonic amp??!!!), but doesn't mention his pick-up system. Don't know if it's the FRAP/Trance Audio stuff that Hedges used, but his tone is very similar.

WTF?!!!
He is no M&M, thank God. WOW!
Okay, I'm gonna go set my stuff on fire.
Thanks Jack! (I think)

I bought his latest as well (bought it on iTunes)- every song is worth listening to- not a bad track to be found. Wonderful stuff. Thanks for posting the link Jack~

iTuned it as well, as well as Eric Johnson and the Hellcasters. A lot to digest after a holiday gathering! Good stuff!
