Title: Changing Knobs
Post by: dwmark on April 17, 2010, 08:27:33 AM
Okay--Roger has finally delivered the last of the custom knobs for my bass.  Anyone have a clue regarding how to take off the stock knobs that they put on at the factory?  The teardrop knobs look like they have little screws in them but the tophat knobs don't.

Don't want to damage anything.  Advice?

excellent.  was thinking a pry-off was in order but didn't want to get a blade anywhere near the finish.

thanks.

It might be helpful for peace of mind to put a heavy towel down around the knob just in case.

Dave, I think that is a very thoughtful precaution. because even the best hand can slip and then there is a mark left. Excellent  advice .

great advice.  i, of course, put my hand in harms way (you have to protect the axe, right?).  did have a slip, but didn't hit the finish or break skin.

but only changed one knob, so far.  will take your advice for the others.
