What's the company that makes the ad on side LED strip with the battery compartment that goes behind the headstock?

Does anyone here use them? I'm wondering if they are very visible from the front if they are on the dim setting.
 
I ordered my SC model with LED's and love them. I am looking for a way to get them on other basses I own, but don't really want a light show for the audience.

I've used them on a MK Signature bass. They're great! Because the leds are ON the side of the fingerboard, they are always slightly visible from the front, when looked at from straight forward. However, If you're standing on a stage and you have your bass hanging from the strap, the audience gets kind of a tilted view so that will obscure the leds, especially when set on dim. In bright setting the leds produce a red (blue or green) glow.

Yes it is! The bright setting is really, really bright. In comparison: the low setting is comparable to the brightness of Alembic side leds.

When I got my first array last year, you needed mucho real estate on the headstock to accomodate the Blue or green LED's, which used more juice than the red, (bigger battery pack). I just got my latest set, and Roz has started using a new battery pack that is smaller, and can accomodate Blue, Red or Green. So I ordered blue this time, just for variety, and I feel that the blues, overall, appear less bright than the reds. Still plenty visible, but if you are seeking something less noticeable to an audience you might consider going blue. Peace, JBY

BTW, when I turn on my LED's, my lower gums itch. Same reaction as when I see a very sexy woman..... I was once told that is a symptom of oxygen deprivation, I must forget to breathe :-)

One thing to consider:  red LEDs won't diminish your night vision.  The other colors will.  My soon-to-be-finished (yeah!) Further has red LEDs with double ambers at the 12th and 24th frets.

I've got built-in red LEDs on my fretless Epic, red FRETFX LEDs on my fretted Epic, and blue FRETFX LEDs on my Distillate. Yes, I love 'em!

The built-in LEDs are sharp points of light. The FretFX has a little bleed-through along the clear plastic tube and looks sorta like fibre optics. But, for the money, I'm not complaining. It's always best and cheapest to order LED's from the factory right from the start if you're ordering new. It's a lot more money to consider adding after the fact what with a new fingerboard, a refinish, and a new battery compartment in the back. Again, FretFX is the least money and a big bang for the buck! Check out their testimonials on the web page. You'll see a lot of Alembics there including mine!
