Title: Finish question for my handmade guitar
Post by: grynchin on July 25, 2007, 09:14:23 PM
Hi fellers.  I have made a guitar.  I do not have access to a lot of finishing equipment, well I do have access a friend of mine sprays cars, has a booth, etc.  But I don't want to use him because its going to be so much tedious back and forth to get my guitar sprayed with nitro/lacquer.  Can I wipe on this lacquer(it is actually nitrocellulose spraying lacquer) or should I wipe on waterbase rubbing lacquer.  I also have a question about the soundhole.  It is an electric guitar but has a soundhole because it is a semi-hollow guitar.  Should I finish inside the soundhole or leave it unfinished?  Thanks.

Inside should be unfinished.  This is achieved by inflating a balloon in the soundhole.  You should have your friend spray some KTM9 since its waterbased. http://tinyurl.com/2lmjrb (http://tinyurl.com/2lmjrb)
