Title: Brad's Custom Signature with dummy humcanceller
Post by: terryc on June 04, 2010, 07:23:48 AM
Well I had sometime on my hands so I had a look at the 'Factory to Customer' section..some nice basses indeed when I came across the above and noticed that this signature bass had a dummy humcanceller with Signature electronics(or so I assume since there is no 5 pin socket on the front of the bass)
I thought that Signature basses used humcanceller pick ups only and not single coil with dummy hum canceller.
In other words a Signature bass with a Series I sound??
Is this a custom build option??
It is here

That is called a Series preparation. There are other things done at the same time. It is for folks that are planning to upgrade to Series electronics  at a later date when they have the money.

Actually that's purely ornamental.  I have the same on my bass.  They do use an actual middle pickup as used on a series intrument, just no wires.

There is the full series prep, but that calls for deeper body, cut outs for the preamp card, etc.    You can tell by the orientation of the control pots.
