How many projects (musical) are you guys involved with ?
A few years ago I had three full time projects going on, but now due to a longer commute to work, more demands placed on me at my full time job, and with some elder care issues Im dealing with, I find that I can pretty much only handle one.

For the last few years, only one.  However, I'm in the process of making some significant changes, one result of which might be additional time for other musical projects.

Only one full time endeavor for me, that being the continuing development of my solo bassist project/adventure.  Did I say adventure?  A 'mild' understatement to say the least.  ;)

1 full-time, 1 half-time, several occasionals. No time for jamming or much else really.  It's either feast or famine around these parts..

Currently, 2 bands (untill the first of the year)that one or the other gigs about every weekend, and a side  project with some other fellers that only gigs occasionally.I'm going back with 3PLAY full-time after New Years. It's just too much, when ya work 55-60 hrs a week on the day gig. But, it keeps me outa the Bars. Wait a minute, no it doesn't! :D

2 jazz standards bands, (same pianist - so they don't clash)
1 contemporary jazzy pop band (might give this up)
1  soul blues rock band.

So 4 projects.

Two bands.  One is Grateful Dead & related covers, the other is a very tasty combo of originals, obscure covers (think Randy Newman, Lucinda Williams, John Hiatt), and classics (some Beatles,  Mr. Spaceman, Apeman).  Plus always open for a jam, electric or acoustic.

None, as I live in musical hell, also known as Fayetteville, NC.  If one doesn't play:

Country
Beach
Death Metal, Screamo, Emo, Modern Rock, or whatever it is they're calling it these days
Blues

You're pretty much out of luck.  I can play most if not all of the above, but it's not what I want to do.  Country and blues bore the snot out of me; the metal genres do nothing for me at all, and beach, well, let's just say I'd rather be playing disco.

I guess I'm stuck due to my choices.  I go to the occasional open mike, and have answered ads but so far no luck.  Funny, I played in bands in both Korea and Iraq.  Maybe I need to go to a foreign country ...

I just finished laying down the bass tracks for 2 CD's for 2 different people.
I have another Cd project starting in January.
I play part time with our worship band at church.
And just staring working with this lady. (http://www.jennieriddle.com)
And I have a few Christmas parties next month with a small Jazz trio.

And I'm supposed to be retired from music.

Same band (Zoso The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience) since '94 and have been touring since '96. My drummer and guitarist live near me but our singer lives in S.E. Georgia, so we had thought about a side project as a trio that would be aptly named O.S.O. or Our Singer's Out! hehehehe... alas, no time for that after 3-5 nights on the road and a good days driving to get home.
I feel for Alan as we have played a club(forgot the name) in Fayetteville,N.C. We started earlier than usual for an unappreciative audience only to find that after we were done....BOOM BUMP BOOM!!! The D.J. kicks in the Neuvous Disco Mania Madness! And this was THE place to play in town. God help you Alan.
Olie, to quote Ozzy Osbourne retirement sucks. not very eloquent but the point is easily made..YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW!!
I kind of envy those of you that have or have access to multiple projects for the different music you get to play.
Kimberly, I think it's absolutely wonderful that you do what you do and have an audience for it. It takes a lot of guts to pull something like that off AND get people to LISTEN. All the best to you and the rest of my fellow members.

Let me guess ... The Flaming Mug?  Yes, it was the premier place to play, if it is what I'm thinking it is/was.

God help me indeed ...

Wasting away in musical hell,

Alan
