Nashville's Public TV station is having a fundraiser and one of their special programs tonight was the ERIC CLAPTON
CROSSROADS GUITAR FESTIVAL
held JULY 28, 2007 in Sweet Home CHICAGO
Bill Murray was the host. I didn't see, or hear, all of it but what I caught was great. Clapton played, of course. He played with Buddy Guy, Steve Winwood and Robbie Robertson.
Jeff Beck also played, but he and Clapton did not play together. Beck had an amazingly tasty 21-year old female bass player Tal Wilkenfeld
All of the basses I saw were Fenders - P-basses and Wilkenfeld played a blonde Jazz. All of the featured guitarists were playing Strats and Teles. (I wonder how many of them were equipped with Strat Blasters?) Los Lobos also played. Great show. Y'all may have already talked about this one....

This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJGCOq89a2o) is Beck and Wilkenfeld from the Crossroads festival.

More (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKtdakNhhLo) Beck and Wilkenfeld from Crossroads. She can play. And of course he's Jeff Beck. Both of these pieces were just really really nice stuff!

I think Wilkenfeld played a Jazz style Sadowsky.
I was wondering who she was. Anyone who gets to share the stage with Jeff Beck has got to be super accomplished. Bravo to her for breaking steroetypes and impressing the hell out of me!
Just great stuff!!!

Don't forget B.B. King's Gibson a.k.a Lucille and Johnny Winter's Gibson Firebird and that red SG...................

Tal was the Bass Player cover story(edit: actually it was a feature article, not a cover story) in the Nov. 2007 issue. She comes from Australia. When she was 16 or so she went to LA as a guitarist. A little bit later she switched to bass. After moving to NYC she made an immediate splash in the jazz scene. She has played with a lot of name acts. For me she was the highlight of the Crossroads gig. She seems to be having a great time and the others seem to love having her around.
Rich
Edit: She got a lot of attention at the 2003 NAMM show, including an endorsement by Roger Sadowsky. One of the many notable jazz gigs she got was last April's Chick Corea tour.

Jeez I get so bored watching all these Fender/SVT setups: Is EVERY touring bassist brain dead?
