I guess it will be published at 24th this month ?
;-))
-
I think you'll find that Custom of the Month may be a bit of a misnomer. There are occasions when things get busy that a custom may serve for several months.
-
I remember reading somewhere that they don't always have a new Featured custom every month. Sometimes when it gets really busy, like around the holidays, they have to skip a month. But December is not over yet.........
-
I'm working on it, but December 24th seems appropriate, you really shouldn't give me such ideas
-
Mica:
If the COTM is an 8 string bass, December 21st would be appropriate! (First day of Chanukah) lol

Rim shot please....(he's here all week folks).

the ROTFL one

I remember a few years ago there was also a Featured Construction. We got to watch a Brown Bass being built in great detail. Now THAT was really cool. I really enjoyed that alot - perhaps it can be revived?
-
How about a shop webcam. That would really be awesome. (I am guessing that for a variety of reasons, that will not be happening).
-
The Featured Construction pieces were fun. Here's the Brown Bass feature: http://www.alembic.com/info/FBC_1.html (http://www.alembic.com/info/FBC_1.html). I used to read it through every few days while I was waiting for my BB to be completed. The detail shots are very cool and informative about how the carving looks as it is actually being done.
-
The other Featured Bass Construction (http://www.alembic.com/info/FBC_2.html) was for the Unicorn bass. Now that we've got the Factory to Customer section, it's like scores of Featured Constructions.
As anyone who visits knows everything is open to see, I just not into webcams I'm afraid. But never say never, right?
-
Web cam! Sounds too kinky for me.

There was also one for one of the Further prototypes (http://www.alembic.com/info/FGC_1.html target=_blank).

I can totally understand about not wanting to be visible by thousands of strangers on a daily basis. Every move being potentially examined and cataloged. Every simple mistake noted . . .
Olie, we would have to impose a strict guitar porn only rule, of course. (Ooh, check out those curves, that silky poly coat finish, etc. ).

Guitarists know more positions! hehehehe

Bassist require a bigger G string.

I propose that we have group members contribute COTM postings.
In other words, roll your own, and post here.

I'll volunteer for the roll your own part. :-)

I should have expected such a dope-y response, Bill.
If I can find some time, I might just try to make a hash of it. I know Mica rolls them by hand.
Hopefully, I won't bong-le it all up.

Although I really enjoy the Factory to Customer threads (Especially ANYTHING by David Grego), it's not quite the same as a featured construction. There's alot of dialogue including interjections by other club members. There are ideas flowing back and forth and constant changes. It's not a point by point pictorial documentation of a project from start to finish.
There's a program on the Discovery channel called How it's Made where they show the complete process of construction of everything from Guitars, Rolls Royce automobiles, Jet engines, Grand Pianos, Airplanes, and anything else you can imagine. I really enjoy that very much.
