Title: Larry Taylor's P-bass
Post by: David Houck on January 14, 2009, 04:15:05 PM
I heard from Larry Taylor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Taylor) today.  Many of you will recall Larry as the bass player for Canned Heat, John Mayall, and Harvey Mandel.  He's played on a lot of what I consider important albums in music history, including Woodstock, and laid down a lot of great bass lines on those albums.  I listened to a lot of Canned Heat, Mayall, and Mandel back then; so Larry's played a part in my musical development.  And of course for a lot of us, Going Up The Country is part of the soundtrack of our lives.

Larry asked that I post the following story for him.  He said that he's also signed up with the Alembic club and plans to join in later.  His story is written without punctuation, so I've put in carriage returns to make the phrasing easier to read.  It's a pretty cool story about the bass he used at the Monterey Pop Festival.  The video he references is pretty cool !!

_______________

My name is Larry Taylor
