Hi Guy, This is the back of a Series instrument.  The cover by the strap lock is for two nine volt batteries for use when the power supply is not used and the cover with the additional holes is for the Series circuit board (the holes are used for access to the trim pots used for pickup gain and hum cancelling setup procedure - see here (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=269)).
