In another thread, someone asked about the ability to selectively block users. While this forum software does not support it, it is possible:
http://www.alembic.com/club/messages/449/40472.html (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=19571)
This was a little experimental application that will killfile users. It requires Firefox and greasemonkey (as referenced above).

wow...I havent really been around that much recently. What on earth happened to cause this?
-
Greg,
This refers to a thread closed by our level-headed volunteer moderator, wherein some folks exchanged heated comments regarding Alembics in the studio. If you didn't catch it the first time, I wouldn't bother tracking it down, unless you would care to rehash the Fender P-Bass vs. Alembic Custom debate.

I am against any form of censorship. No one makes me read, or respond to anything.
-
Craig; they are not talking about blocking anything from you or from others, only blocking stuff so that they themselves don't see it on their own screens. Like how I wish I could block the sports stories from my BBC News RSS feed; it would make it a lot easier to focus on the stories I want to see, and quicker to move through them all. But everyone else can still see the sports headlines, and read or ignore if they want.
-
Craig, it isn't censorship for someone to create such a filter to apply to their own reading. People are just talking about blocking things for themselves, not for anyone else.
-
Okay then, carry on.
-
Dave, you should be able to subscribe to specific feeds from the BBC news site, like Americas (http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_world_edition/americas/rss.xml target=_blank). Just open the section you're interested in, and start the feed from there.
The geographical feeds unfortunately do contain sports items ...

Adriaan; I'm subscribed to the World Frontpage, which I find thoroughly covers world events.

-
Bill; it's purely a matter of available time!! (That and a complete lack of interest.)
-
I want to block my employers from knowing I am looking at this site. How can I do that?
Bored Bass Playing Fool

I can make my Alembic sound like a Fender.... but I can't make a Fender sound like an Alembic...
-
Sigh . . . Let's not start this again.
-
Amen!
Or...........
As Roberto Duran once said....No Mas, No Mas!
John.

Pauldo is correct

Seems to me that the fact Alembics are so widely used in Nashville studios speaks for itself.
-
I can attest to that. I was in Nash playing for Jake Booker and before I left I asked, j-bass or Alembic. Need I say more?
