Title: Finally! My ultimate Bass Rig!
Post by: afrobeat_fool on September 08, 2009, 09:12:37 PM
Wow, It's been a long time coming. I've been fortunate enough to get everything but the tuner used and in Excellent condition. Hughes and Kettner Bass 600, Alembic power, Alembic F-2B pre, and Korg tuner. And lets not forget "Edwin" #1180. These are now being run thru a Warwick 4-10, and Aguilar GS 112. The TONE. I just got the F-2B this weekend from a craigslist ad. It's an 80's blue box. I am really impressed with it.

You have a nice rig set-up. It just so happens, I am in the market for an amp.

Once I pickup my Toma_Hawk bass from Santa Rosa, I am heading down next door to Petaluma, California to the HQ of Mesa Boogie. I am looking at their TITAN V12.

Wow! That's a whole lot of tone control going on. +1 that the H&K looks very cool! You don't see them very often. Nice!

Thank you all! I played yesterday till my wrist fell off. I am quickly approaching the 500 hour mark on Edwin. I got him in Mid July, and though I have not played him on every gig, He is sure getting a workout. So am I. I still don't have the S1 electronics completely mapped out for stage performance. There are so many options. I have been playing for the most part with one pickup or the other, with one primary setting for both pickups. I am utilizing the Q pretty well, and love the wompyness of it. The essence comes close, but not quite the same critter. Oh and the slap and pop is to die for. Especially on the Sly/stone song Thank you. Did Larry Grahm ever play an Alembic?
The pre is simply awesome. There is a lot of power there.Today I am going to hook it up to two amps, and have one with distortion( Big Muff) thru the H&K, and the other with Phase shifter(Vintage Maestro) thru Warwick 5.1 extreme. This stereo thing is going to be quite fun!

Hi Nick.
I am about to get an F-2B  pre-amp as well. I picked  an F-1X on a local craigslist sale as well  recently ( AWESOME !) . I am interested in experimenting with the sounds possible by feeding the output of channel 1 into channel 2  with an F-2B, with a little  multi spectral compression and  other signal processing . I am hoping to get growling ARCO ( bowed) sustain sound . I love to experiment.

Nick,

You have the perfect environment for creating some cool music. I was just checking out your skins and  Piano. Best of all, I can see life with your beautiful growing plants.

Yeah, that's a music room for real Nick. What a cool place to work and be creative...
