I'm a too critical so and so when it comes to vocals, especially female. I was moved to tears. This is a voice of purity tempered with the experiences of life. I'm most definitively buying this cd when it comes out. Thank Georgie Boy for sharing it.

There was an appropriate comment posted under the video comparing Susan Boyle to Annie Lennox. . .

Susan is the new diva - flat out fabulous

I am impressed. I see she got a make-over. Fantastic. The lil ol' English Housewife is quaint, but now she's got polish. My Bar is set with Ella, And though they are two different singers, I can see Susan doing a lot of the same show tunes Ella did so well, and so commercially profitable. Big plus for me, She isn't a clone, created by some producer.

One wonderful aspect of this Susan Boyle discovery is that finally she is able to shine. This gives faith to so many of the  talented Musicians and singers in the world that have been stuck working at jobs that just suck the life out of them and  stifle their real abilities as true musical virtuosos .There are so many of you out there !

Nick. The lil ol' English Housewife is ..... Scottish! And from a part of Scotland (not far from George and myself) that is as nationalistic as they can get ;-)

lolol!!!!
Nick......I was just about to post the same message as Graeme!!
He beat me to it.........damn!!
We seem to get so much of this here........when someone does well in say, the Olympic (Alembic?) games, and they are from England, the hosts of shows always say.....yeah this ENGLISH person....blah blah blah........
BUT when a Scottish person does well (SCOTCH is what you drink by the way.....not the nationality) they still say English........or indeed, British!!
Just my (and Graeme's...and every other Scottish person's) views.
Even Graeme is English....but damn...he's a nice guy, so we tolerate him!!  LOL

I saw her when she first aired on BGT, I loved her voice then.

I wonder how many of us (all I would assume at one time or another) have been guilty of knowing what was inside after one short look at the outside.

Susan has a great sense of witt and humor too. Her interviews are fun to watch as well.

A CLASS ACT 100%.

OO
You sure she's not from Texas George?! LOL

Now listen here Olin!!!    LOL!
She's a Scot...and we're damn proud of her!!
Nice to see something decent coming out of Scotland of late.....although, a 30 year old single malt.....I digress!!
She lives just round the corner from Jacko!!!!
Must confess, even as a qualified Psychologist, I've been known to see what's on the outside, and (wrongly) assume, that that is what is on the inside!!
We are all learning every day.
What a wake up call for the World!!

I must confess though, that as a Trick Cyclist,
her jokes and seemingly jovial sense of well being, do show a very shy and insecure person, who has been hiding for so many years. Now, it's difficult to handle all the adoration and, at times may become a bit too much for her.
However........she's a Scot!!!.and will survive  LOL
I say....good luck to her. She has a superb talent that we should all appreciate
Good onya Susan!!

I don't think many folks here in the US understand that the UK has distinct regions and peoples. I have a friend who is Welsh and has similar feelings about being referred to as British or English. Now as to that single malt you appear to be offering .....

Very well put George.

Maybe Jacko can put in a good word for you and she'll have an Alembic bassist on tour with her.

Thank you for the clarification, gents! I am happy she is from Scotland. Home of Goff! My favorite distraction. One day I hope to see ya'll there and tee it up if anyone is interested. As far as we Yanks go, it is hard for most of us to tell the difference in dialect from English, Scot, Irish, Welsh, S.African, Ausie, etc. No Offense, Hell we can barely understand what each other are saying. Someone from Montana won't understand a word from someone from the Bayou of Lousiana. Most of our UK understanding comes from Monty Python. Music is something we all can understand, and share.

And if one listens closely to Monty Python you can hear all sorts of different accents used that I'm sure can be heard in and around London, nevermind the outlying areas, just as NYC and Boston have differing accents from the varied boroughs about the towns.... Many years ago I worked with a Welshman who tolerated being called British but I never made the mistake of calling him or any other Briton english again!

I, too , was instantly impressed, no, floored, after viewing her first appearance on BGT. I then followed the 'ordeal' that followed, rooting for her to find that inner strength and 'face the music'. She did. Having lost the contest she won the game, and her career is only now beginning. I, too, will put her in the league with Ella and her peers. She certainly has the talent. Her vocal control is like nothing I have ever heard. It shows years of singing, practicing. And the look in her eye, the facial expressions as she sings, reaveal an enormous amount of passion, and inner strength that she quietly covers when she isn't singing. I don't for a moment think she is quaint or frivolous, just a product of her environment to date. And her drive to succeed, after all the care she gave her mother who wanted her to succeed, to me is very apparent. I hope those who are forming her musical future are paving her path wisely, so that she can become another legend this world sorely needs.

I wish her all the best.

Well, I still prefer The Flying Burrito Brothers' version (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07oufBC_JjQ), but Susan's is very, very nice!
