Every once in a while I play around with this tune, but I always get the chords wrong. So I want to look up the chords, but I can't remember the name of the song. It's an old instrumental song that was popular in the late 50's or early 60's. It's in 3/4 time (or perhaps 6/8 if you prefer), and the introduction is two chords repeated once. I have no idea of the original key, but let's say that the two chords in the intro are E and D, and then of course E and D again. The melody is a string of descending dotted half notes (remember were in 3/4) starting on E. So, four measures on the E chord with a descending melody of E, D#, C#, B, and then four measures on the D chord with a melody of D, C#, B, A; then repeat.
If you play the above, you should recognize the song. It may have been the theme from a movie.
So, can anybody name this tune?

It reminds me of the theme from Midnight Cowboy.

Wow, that's it!
Thanks!!!

Found the chords last night, and played around with it some this morning.
