A great innovator whose brief time on earth left an indelible mark on country-rock.  And, of course, on Joshua Tree.

There are people who sing well enough alone, but when those 2 voices combine, they complete each other and make something magical.  Gram & Emmylou had that.  I gotta go run some errands; first thing on the stereo will their version of Love Hurts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj8qnzw)

Their version of Love Hurts is one of my all time favorites.  And I've always loved Gram's music.  First time I heard Sweetheart of the Rodeo it blew my mind; I was a Byrds fan, and it was totally unexpected.  I was a cosmic country rock fan from then on.  From time to time I like to spend a few hours studying the history of that music; and for me, Gram is the big influence.  His spirit, vision, and heart moved the music into wonderful new directions.
