Can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit in another low-pass-filter on my Rouge-5?
-
It sure is. Check out 99Q12212 Wenge Rogue in the Showcase. It has two filters.
-
Thank you cragston for the help.Do you think this was custom made? Just curious because I want to find out if I can get my bass an upgrade.
-
The size of the pickup cavity may be a large enogh - why not post a pic of the cavity (with the cover off, of course).
-
Kol, I believe you can. Call Mica and she will give you the best answer on how to proceed, as well as a price.
-
I wondered about that same thing for my Europa 5 bass a while back so I will be interested in the outcome of this thread.

Thank you guys. Back from playing this evening. Will investigate more tomorrow. Here in Norway it\s bedtime nowby now!

I asked Mica the same thing about a 6string Rogue. The answer is yes you can, but you will be purchasing the equivalent of a full set of Signature electronics. With one filter, it affects the signal after the blend. With two filters, they affect each pickup separately. That difference is HUGELY significant in the sound, but also requires significantly different circuitry.

and, as it seems, a significant amount of cash either... ouch!
-
Because of the control layout on 99Q12212, I think it was a retrofit. I have a vague recollection that it was pretty difficult to cram everything in there.
Compare the size of your backplate to the Weng? Rogue. If it looks to be the same size, it's probably something you can handle if drilling holes in an Alembic doesn't turn your stomach. If your backplate is smaller, then the job will need to be done by a local professional. It's not practical to send it to us from Norway for such a modification.

I would be interested in knowing the price of such an upgrade since I would very much like to have another low pass filter on my Rogue.I'm not to squeamish about another hole being drilled as long as it is done the right way.
-
Dave, compare the backplates like I described in post 6899 and write me an email with what you find. If you can include a nice clear picture of the inside of the electronics cavity, that would be even better.

This is how it looks like in the cavity of my Rogue.Have done some upgrade already to get rid of earthing problems.Have got a nice sound.Just ask if someone want to know more about it.
The pic is not very good, but I hope it will do the job.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/393/85188.jpg)

I was out on vacation last week so I'm just finding this thread. The previous owner of my Rogue had another full set of controls added - 2 tone switches and another Q, so now there's a set for each pickup. Clearly, he ordered it that way because they're symmetrically located.
At any rate, I really like having the extra flexibility and use it often. Good luck with your upgrade - I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Adding a filter (or a filter and Q switch) is probably best achieved by taking the existing electronics out and using them in another project and replacing with Signature electronics. You can keep the bass and treble switches in this bass and have them either dedicated to one pickup or the overall sound.
Working around the existing holes, something like this could function:

The dotted line represents a small undercut you might need to make to accommodate the extra Q switch and make the layout look like it wasn't an afterthought. The green dot is where I'd put the volume control. I'd use the existing volume location for the new filter, and leave the pan and original filter locations the same.

Thank you Mica for helpful info. What I need to know is the price for having the Signature electronics.
