Title: By Popular Request . . .
Post by: pauldo on December 15, 2009, 06:16:00 PM
What do you do when your drier consumes one of your socks and you are left with one odd sock?

I personally let that odd sock hang around for a few months and if the drier never regurgitates its mate, I then use the odd sock for polishing.

I'm neurotic enough that all of my socks match.  If I lose one, no big deal.  Eventually I just buy a new set of socks.  I only wore black t-shirts for a number of years.  It made my closet easy to choose from.  Come to think of it, I may have some obsessive/compulsive tendencies.

You guys took me seriously?  You been hanging out with Hal?  By the way, my sock theory is that one should either buy socks with wild colorful designs, or have all the same.  Either way, it makes sorting easy.

Well, not very seriously Bill.   This thread seems as reasonable as the many others that have caused such commotion.

Personally, I buy the same type of socks at Costco in bulk packs and have eliminated over time the other types of socks I used to wear. That way all of the socks are the same and getting a pair together is a snap. The previously worn items along with old t shirts have been used for polishing and protection of scratchable items. But Costco also has micro fiber cloths in bulk packs which are now used, and shipped with every used bass I sell! (along with clean tshirts for packing) Obsessive?  Only black? Sounds normal to me.  Almost Zen in its own way. OHMMMMMMM

Kevin. If you ever get the chance, watch Dream Theater's latest DVD - Chaos in motion. In amongst the extras, Mike Portnoy guides us through the backstage life of the band, going as far as showing each member's wardrobe cabinet. In John Myungs case are ten black T shirts and ten pairs of black jeans. (It's quite funny in context)

Graeme

p.s. I have a drawer full of odd socks.

I believe Jerry also said he wears (wore) 3 or 4 on one foot, so he could paint the toenails of the other.

I try to buy all the same socks for ease of morning prep, but my woman just wears any old socks together and causes great consternation in the sock drawer.

Well, call me what you will, but my drawer consists of dozens of white T-Shirts...!
And of course, they match perfectly with my pairs of blue jeans...
