This Vintage Alembic (serialnumber 30) sat under water along with several other alembics during the recent floods in New Orleanshttp://club.alembic.com/Images/631/30733.html?1138421454 (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=7090)

The artists and touring sound companies almost certainly have every kind of insurance, and while I feel for them, it won't be that big a deal for a Paisley or Vince Gill.  Those kinds of guys can certainly shop at Gruhn's or Mandolin Brothers, not to mention the major companies will certainly replace their endorsement pieces.  I feel bad for regular guys like me, the road musicians, etc., that don't have pockets that deep.

I live on a hill so I was spared, as was half the city.  But the other half more than makes up for it.

Still, it probably took a large chunk of vintage instruments out of the market. Hopefully some of them can be restored.

I knew someone whose house was on fire and after he got his kids & wife out went back in and rescued his 59 strat but got nasty smoke inhalation and minor burns.
Needless to say he risked his life for a chunk of wood and his wife was distraught over it all
Is it worth it??
