Title: The Stable

I'm going to try and control my G.A.S. for the next several months (years?), so here is my current bass situation:

I just finished putting my rack together.  I have a F2-B to an ART Pro Channel to a QSC PLX 3402 to an AccuGroove El Whappo Jr.  In a relatively compact rig I have more volume than I will ever need and the overall tone is very tight and focused.  The ART Pro Channel was a nice surprise: it was just laying around doing nothing so I put it in to see if it would be useful.  The answer is a resounding YES.  I lightly compressed the signal just to even things out and then used the EQ to add some punch at 200Hz and 400Hz. Cheap too... the Art Pro Channel, not the other stuff!!!  Many thanks to Danno for hooking me up with the Whappo Jr and QSC.

You have a good collection of instruments there. How do you determine which one(s) you take on a gig? Is it based on what music you are playing, sound you want to achieve, type of venue or just a current favourite?

Which one is the beater bass? :-)

I get it - you want to cut down on your own GAS so you increase ours? ;)

Great pic, great collection!

The Beater Bass is probably the Orion.  The black MM w/the maple neck has the most miles on it, but it's a special bass to me (thus no beating allowed).

Jazzy, my last gig was 18 years ago!!!  However, some of my old band mates and I are doing a reunion/benefit show on July 31.  I plan on taking the Series I and SC.  I'm currently on the look-out for a casual situation/opportunity to start playing out again.

That's a fairly serious bass arsenal; how about some porn for us skinny-string types?  What's left out of the pic besides the pink paisley Tele?

Wolf
I've tried them all at some point, but I always go back to Sonar.  I've been using Cakewalk software since the ProAudio versions (pre-Sonar), so I know all the tricks and traps.  I just recently got the ProSonus FireStudio.  I was using an analog mixer with a MOTU 24I, but the FireStudio allowed me to get rid of a BUNCH of outboard gear.  I do all of my mixing on the computer, but the FireStudio gives me the capability of mixing on the board.  I use WaveLab for mastering.
