$1,000,000?  A bolt-on neck?   Why do I feel this sudden urge to shave my head, find a very short person who looks like me, hold my pinky to my top lip, and cackle an evil one million dollars!?  Shagadelic, man!

You would have thought at that price they would have at least put some amazing pickups on rather than standard looking lace pickups, ( although I do like lace pickups), but at $1m you would expect some cutting edge custom designed ones to work with the gold body. maybe they could have used gold wire in the pickup coils.
 
Maybe the buyer should get in touch with the person who owns the $250,000 Ritter bass start an exclusive band.

Oh, yeah - solid gold nut & saddles!  Just what I always wanted.  Shouldn't have to replace those too soon; probably real cheap, too........

Now come on guys, this is an Alembic forum. I don't think Alembic owners should ever complain about other guitars based on price! LOL :-)

One more thought ... I don't think you'd need security because NOBODY would believe you if you told them it was real gold! :-) Nobody believes me when i show off MY solid gold guitar working at the local dive being paid $50 a night and drinks!

Nobody believes me when I tell them that Alembics are alchemical creations made by Elves; or that Series electronics are so expensive because one of the components is stardust collected by a NASA spacecraft.

I wouldn't take that Devil's bargain without asking at least two questions:  
1) How soft is 18 K gold?
2) What does the guitar weigh?

Oh, and Dave, Alembic doesn't get it's stardust from NASA anymore. I saw tinkerbell locked in a cage in the finishing room a few months ago. Mica said it was easier this way.

The spelling of the maker Jhoseph struck me, so I looked around and noticed the circled R symbol, ?, which indicates a registered trademark.  The TM symbol is also used on the site, which indicates claims to trademark protection but not that it's been registered.  So I checked the patent & trademark office database and found that there is indeed a filing for the mark GOLDCASTER, in June 2009, though it is not registered yet.  It will be, once the owner files certain documents and pays certain fees, but at the moment, it's not registered, and it should not state otherwise (see the bottom where it claims it is registered).  That's a no-no.  I suppose it's remotely possible that it was filed as a California trademark, but they don't have a searchable database so I can't check easily.  And who's the owner?  One Joseph Pistone of Venice, CA.  Not one of the guys listed on the goldcaster site.  And it has not been assigned, at least as far as I can tell.
 
Not sure why I'm posting this, but just wanted to share.  I'm a patent attorney, and I can't help but check these things out when I notice odd stuff.  This one's a bit strange.
