Title: Cable vs. Sat T.V.
Post by: 2400wattman on June 06, 2010, 09:54:44 PM
Any opinions guys? I need to get one of these and don't know what would be the best deal. So what do you guys like?

Satellite may not be available.  You have to have an unobstructed view of the southern sky, as I recall.  We tried to get satellite, but the dish would have been mounted in a very inconvenient place and we would have had a bunch of wires running along the side of the house.  We went with cable.  The cable has a lot of free on demand programming.  Very cool.  No complaints.

Is Sat. T.V. the same as Direct T.V.?
I'll probably go with cable but I want best bang for the buck.

A few years back, I heard local radio host raving about his new satellite TV; I had just about decided to go that route when he said ...and I kept my cable for when it rains or snows.

I'm a cable user, that being said I also use it for Internet connectivity.  I must say that this company (Charter) has rarely experienced an outage in four years.

Adam, Direct TV is satellite TV, there are other brands as well I believe.
I use A T & T Uverse (digital cable) for TV, Internet and land line phone ( I could have added cellular service as well). It's all on one bill. Check the vendors in your local area for package deals.

I've had DishNetwork for several years now, and it DEFINITELY goes south everytime we have bad weather.  I know when thunderstorms are forming when it starts its reboot . . . I'm considering the AT+T Uverse or a similar layout from ComCast to get around that and as Dada said, have just one bill.

I'm with Keith, though with  basic cable, my antenna for High Def. It is the secret Cable and Sat. don't want you to know about.

If you live in a place were an antennae will work, it will get you the best looking High def signal. Over the air High Definition is much less compressed than any I've seen on cable or satellite.

Over the air is free too.
