It's that time of year again. Dad and I will be performing our civic duty and working the primary election as poll workers. That means we'll be gone all day tomorrow (that's from 6 AM to at least 9 PM). Please go easy on mom and Mary while we're gone
-
THE POLLS ARE OPEN! That's what my dad shouts out promptly at 7 AM. Small lull in voters right now, and I've got a wifi connection here. Sadly, I can't log into my email, so I won't be able to respond to any email until tomorrow I'll check around the club as time allows.

So, how's turnout???
-
We've had 50 ballots cast here and 44 absentee ballots returned. It will start to get really busy at lunch time and after work. But there's a few lulls in between.

Forgive my ignorance about USA elections Mica, but what is a primary election?

In a primary election you choose the ballot of one party, and vote to select that party's candidate for the general election. As an example, before the 2008 Presidential election, Barack Obama won the Democratic Party primaries over Hillary Clinton, Dennis Kucinich, and several others; John McCain defeated fellow Republicans such as Fred Thompson & Ron Paul. Obama & McCain then ran against each other in the general election.

The primary election is where each of the political parties put forth various candidates to decide who will be on the ballot in the general election, which is held in November.
It also serves as the next election in the ballot proposition cycle, so they don't have to hold a Special Election for initiatives.
It's complicated = and remember - no electioneering withon 100 feet of a polling place or on the Alembic Club ;)

Proper decorum at all times, and no patty-fingers if you please
Kudos for your ongoing support of the election process.

Well, this thread seriously offends me....
Where's the link to download a grievance form?
-

No further time or effort is required of you. We know you have more important things to do, so we have taken it upon ourselves to accomplish this arduous task on your behalf. I can't believe how tired my old bones are from election day. We didn't roll in until after 10 pm, and the closing procedure was not without stress. Primary elections are always more difficult than general elections. Sorry folks, but I'm only in for a couple of hours today, I need some recuperation time - see you here tomorrow.
