How long should string bass strings last? What about strings on an EUB? I?ve only changed strings on such instruments when they break.
-
How often do you play? What types of strings do you prefer (flat, roundwound, coated)?
-
They'll last for a long, long time. I haven't changed mine on my Wilfer since I bought it 5 years ago. Still work just fine. My old teacher, who is a pretty well known concert bassist, told me he hasn't changed his in over 10 years.
Matter of opinion, I guess.

I'm asking for another bass player. He has one of the new NS models. Flats, plays probably 8 hours a week.

Austin is right, they will last (and perform) quite some time

The strings that the NS EUBs ship with do not appear to have the greatest reputation for longevity. The closest thing to indestructible would be TI Spirocores.
Also note that NS basses take 3/4 length strings, except for Spirocores that you need to get in 4/4 length.
