Long time no chat... Grad school, coaching, teaching, fixing house, lots of music has kept me soooo busy. Anyway, I am trying to some good places to find some top wood for a custom electric I am going to have built. ( www.postguitars.com (http://www.postguitars.com) ) I have checked out global wood source, anyone have any other ideas? Thanks, Colin

Here's one... Gilmer Wood Co. (http://www.gilmerwood.com/ target=_blank)

You could probably check at any major bass/guitar forum and check the Luthier section.
I read a bit over at talkbass and there are lots of bass builders there who might be able to point you in the right direction depending on what kind of top you're looking for.
Good luck!

Can't comment on how they might fit your particular needs, but I've had good experiences with http://exoticwoods.com/home.php (http://exoticwoods.com/home.php). They are run by a former Gibson wood buyer and have always known their stuff and delivered high quality blanks per their commitments. My needs and experience are almost definitely different than yours would be, but I'd recommend you chat with them at least. By the way - very nice designs in your gallery.

I have been at Gilmer Wood and they are great! Plus they are here in Portland. It's fun to stop in and see/smell the woods. Some are toxic to work with.
