Went over from Amsterdam to London to see Return to Forever live on their (who knows last) world tour 2008.
It was unbeleivable to see these guys playing the stuff they hadn't played for over 25 years.
And to see Stanley play his Alembic and double bass, I just couldn't beleive it. Absolutely fantastic.
If any of you get a chance you should go, surely worth your money. These guys are the top of the bill in music!!
Check out the Return to Forever website for the gig calender.
For those who haven't heard, Stanley Clarke, Victor Wooten en Markus Miller are touring around september in Europe, not sure what the US dates are. Should be another great opportunity to see these bass giants.

No Uk dates fro SMV, not even London. Kind of disappointing ;-(

Would be good for them to come up to the midlands or further north when they come to the country for a change and make those southerners travel up country instead of us having to travel to London for everything decent musically.
hahah not bitter, just venting.... :-)

Come to Washington, DC USA in August and see Return to Forever 4 Aug and SMV 20 Aug

That wouldn't be a bad idea as I have family in DC.

Saw the Philly show last night.
Bela Fleck and the Flecktones opened the show and were great as usual. While I was talking to Victor during the sound check he said the Flecktones are going on tour this October & November. They are also opening the RTF show tonight in Boston.
RTF was very good overall. They all looked liked they were really having fun. Al Di Meola was much more relaxed and interactive with the audience than I remember him being the last time I saw RTF.
They made a couple of obvious mistakes (and showed it) in the first couple of tunes but after that everybody pulled together. RTF started shortly after 9PM and ended around 11:30PM. It appears they have shortened the setlist from when they first started the tour as the Duel of the Jester and the Tyrant is now the encore. It was originally the last song of the second set. They also no longer have an intermission and just went straight from electric to acoustic and back to electric for the encore. All in all it was a good show and I really enjoyed it.

I went to the show at Merriweather Post on 08/04. It was well done & everyone seemed to be having fun. The surprise however was that there was an opening act...Larry Coryell, Victor Bailey, Alphonse Mouzon and Wallace Roney...top notch.
Stanley also had a sweet cocobolo top on his Alembic!

Sweet Paul... Nice opener! Glad to hear all the good reviews and surprises. Can't wait to hear about tonight The Final Show of the tour. Hope to see them out again soon and maybe closer to Asheville.
