I know there are other Alembic owners on this site that also dig the ole Daion's...this site is what first "enlightened" me to their existence. I just got this semi-beat-up 1981 Gazelle as a Pawn Shop Prize, and it's awesome (and I'm a bass player, btw...). Oh, and by the way, there's a really cool maroonish Daion Caribou on ebay right now too.

VERY nice! I've been keeping my eyes out for a Gazelle for some time now. How do the electronics work? On both of my Caribous, the under saddle pickup is significantly uneven from string to string. I have one at my luthier's. We're looking for a drop-in replacement. Congrats on the score!

Very Nice. I have an 81 Gazelle that was my mom's. She bought it new in 81 (same time I bought a Power Mk bass.
Bill, my Gazelle sounds and plays great, I prefer it over both of my Martins (one a pre war Martin).

Hey Bill,
you might want to look into L.R. Baggs pickups. I've installed them in three acoustics and they sound wonderful. I think you can send your guitar to Taylor Guitars if you want their preamp.
That's a beautiful guitar as well and would love to hear it.

I know I'm going to sound like an idiot asking this but oh well. When a Martin is referred to as pre war which war are we talking about?
