I'm buying a VW Microbus and following them around to every concert.  I'll faithfully record every note and spend the remaing years of my life analyzing the nuances of the performances.  Anybody want to buy some granola???

Too bad Mike Nesmith won't be with them.  He's the one actually worth seeing, IMHO.

And, of course, the question everyone will want to know:  Will they be touring in the Monkee-mobile? lol

Wow! That's very tempting. AND it's a UK tour! Always loved their music.

Perhaps Steve Stills will sub for Nesmith?

I saw them in the mid-80's in Nashville.  I distinctly recall the bass playing a stinger after Peter Tork had taken his bass off at the end of a song.  Lots of other stuff looked different than what was coming out of the system.  I would at least have hoped that they didn't have either a full band or a tape backstage, but it sure seems that they did.  Davy Jones is the only one with any talent, imho, and I can understand why Mike Nesmith won't go near them.  *sigh*

Well at least this time it should be easier without the Jimi Hendrix Experience overshadowing their tour. Jimi Hendrix and the Monkees (http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/jimi-hendrix-drops-out-as-opening-act-for-the-monkees)

After Nesmith left the group, he formed the National Band, which was one of the early bands in the country-rock genre.  My roommate at the time had one or two of the albums, and they weren't bad.  Red Rhodes was the pedal steel player on those albums.  Here's Propinquity (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W0HGvM3JRE) from the National Band's 1971 release Nevada Fighter.

Of course, many of you will recognize this tune played by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Some Of Shelly's Blues (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bVUHWFY0w1Y), a great tune, written by Nesmith, off of their wonderful 1970 album, Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy.

Michael Nesmith's  Elephant Parts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant_Parts) was really quite funny in sections.

Besides the NGDB & Stone Poneys covers, Some Of Shelly's Blues is on Michael's 1973 album Pretty Much Your Standard Ranch Stash, which I used to have & sorely miss.  Propinquity was also on Uncle Charley...
It's a shame his talent has largely been obscured by his time in the Prefab Four.

Don't forget Dr Duck's Super Secret All-Purpose Sauce, the followup to Elephant Parts and, in my opinion, superior.  The Nez made some amazing contributions to music and music video.  Also the first, to my admitted limited knowledge, to include a homebrew beer recipe in record's liner notes (Tantamount To Treason)
