Title: Colored Strings

Anyone using the DR colored strings? How do you like them? Which weight set? What color would look good on a fairly dark coco top? TIA

Look at this thread (http://club.alembic.com/index.php?topic=10188) - Jacko's second post on February 6 shows cocobolo headstocks with red and black DRs.

I use the Red Devils and Black beauties and like both. The Black Beauties look cool against the ebony fingerboard. Great sound and they don't loose it right away. The coating doesn't interfere with the feel of the strings or tone like some other coated strings.

I use DR Black Beauties on a fretless with an ebony fingerboard (not an Alembic, but a really nice bass nonetheless).  Since it's an unlined ebony board, from a distance it looks like there are no strings on the bass!

The tone from the strings is excellent and the coating makes them longer lasting (still on my first set.... about 6 - 7 months) and they are not damaging my fingerboard.

I may look at switching to DR coated colored strings for my other basses, including my Alembics.

Peace,

James
