At first I scoffed, but it does look pretty cool.
 
Hard to rationalize spending that money on a book instead of an instrument, unless you're rolling in it.

Very interesting ,Separate anchors . I wonder if they are still available. It looks like if one were to use them on a medium scale standard point body that they would incorporate more string length then  the standard flying bird design . Am I correct ?   I barely getaway with using long scale strings on my medium scale bass .

I have no problem with DR strings on a medium scale Spoiler - just cinch the string about 1.5 beyond the tuner, and cut off 0.5 beyond the cinch, then hook it up in the tuner. The E string doesn't taper as much as the other strings beyond the nut, so it sits in a little curve, but that's no real problem.

Does the tail piece design on the Spyder incorporate more string length?  You just make it as well in the pic.

My Series II Entwistle Replica has the separate tailpieces for each string.  I'm sure if someone wanted them on a bass or guitar that Alembic would oblige.

Does it appear to you that there is more string length past the bridge in such a configuration  compared to the flying bird tail piece ?

Comparing it to my Essence, SC Std and Epic, it seems to me that there is more string length from the tailpieces to the bridge on my Series II than on the other basses.  Essentially, the tailpieces are very close to the bridge, so there's more space of string as it were.  I use DR Hi Beams, and I have no problems with them.

I was amazed to learn  about Entwistle's Exploiter (http://www.theguitarcollectionbook.com/take-a-closer-look/the-companion-book/) that (according to this $1,500.00 book), A five-prong microphone jack provided a direct input to a recording studio board
 
And here I always thought that was for my power supply...
 
Dontcha love when people make stuff up? My son used to do that, but he was 7 at the time.

I am not sure if Mr. Entwistlle used a DS5 or a DS5R or either from time to time . However if he had an ALEMBIC IN-2  in his signal chain then it supplied +/- 15 volts plus the Dual channel audio signal, Within the ALEMBIC IN-2 there are also provisions of 2 Balanced line out XLR terminations with ground lift and either PIN 2 or PIN 3 hot polarity switching suitable for direct connection to a recording studio board. There is also a rotary switch that routes the signal ; Stereo  AB discrete, stereo BA reverse  , AA ,BB  etc ... I have one and just rebuilt  the power supply section a few months ago.
