Title: R.I.P. Dick Clark
Post by: lbpesq on April 18, 2012, 04:42:44 PM
Dick Clark, The World's Oldest Teenager passed away today.   Much of my earliest exposure to Rock 'n Roll was watching American Bandstand as a kid.

May the four winds blow you safely home.

Bootsy Collins wrote something nice on his facebook page:

Another Pioneer Slipped from our Sights. 1958 was when I 1st started watching American Bandstand on Somebody elses TV. Watching White & Black Entertainer gettin' Down. Now remember, Funk was a Bad Word, & so was Black Music. But then, Dick Clark showed up in the late 50's. Start mixes Rock with Soul & like the Fountain of Youth he Never grew Old. A true Legend of his time!

Really liked DC.  Watched American Bandstand 'till Soul Train came along . . . . then watched both !  I'm sure Dick Clark and Don Cornelius can now have a nice long visit together.

Dick Clark is gone.  We can no longer ring in the new year.  Well played, Mayans, well played...
