Enough Is Enough with Barbra Streisand may be the best disco song ever recorded.

I will NEVER erase from my mind that Live and More in 1978 was the very first LP I went to a record shop and bought all on my own with my lunch money savings (I was only 6 years old and every LP or tape I owned until them was a gift, but not me-going-to-record-shop), and was amazed at the rhythm section (Later I found it was Sal Guglielmi on bass, who I had never heard of before... or besides.). For me: I feel Love, Last Dance and ESPECIALLY the McArthur Park Suite that held the entire 4th side of the double LP album!. Nostalgia when I still eventually perform some of those songs live (with a Disco/Pop show I eventually work with), and now an obliged tribute, along with some Whitney Houston songs we also play... two Disco/Soul/Pop divas gone in a row this year, go figure...

Great disco icon, seen her back in the 70's.
'I Feel Love' was a great disco tune

Sad news. Thanks for the info. I rebelled against Disco during my high school years in the 70's, but Donna was one of the few Disco acts I liked.

I used a birthday bookstore gift certificate to buy my first albums: Sgt. Peppers, Bill Cosby's Revenge, and God Bless Tiny Tim.  (You think a 13 year old is gonna buy books?)

Sorry to hear about Ms. Summer.  Never really into disco, but she had an excellent voice and went too young.

Bill, tgo

She was a singer's singer:  As noted above, you don't wade into the deep end with Barbara Streisand unless you're packing serious heat, and she did.  She had moved to the Nashville area and lived here for quite a few years, until relocating to FL a while back, though she still owned the home here.  Like so many great singers, she learned it in church, and never quite reconciled that upbringing with being the 'Queen of Disco', a title she never liked.  She could sing anything and sell it.

I had just begun gigging in the late 70's, and at that time, with the coming of synths/sequencers (there were suddenly synth-bass records, MiniMoogs did a fabulous bass), we all wondered if bass and guitar days were numbered, particularly bass.  A lot of guys fail to grasp that disco pushed bass (and drums) right up front, so I can never complain about disco.

What I can complain about were sooooo many of those tunes had those eighth-note octave up/down parts (think Donna's 'Hot Stuff'), and that was a WHOLE LOTTA BASS for someone just starting out in the bands, my hands would cramp and lock up, and my hands were built up from years of playing piano. Gee whiz . . . . . But it was a great time to come into bass playing with so many big parts under that stuff.  Was a HUGE fan of Bernard Edwards' work (with Tony Thompson, both gone too soon, as well) with Chic.

Puh-leeeeze!!! Bernard Edwards and Chic RULE! I especially love their instrumental tracks on their first albums (Sao Paulo and Savoir Faire). Edwards died the way I'd like to die (as Duck Dunn also did...) on his sleep, right after a nice show in Japan... oh, wait, BOTH of them in the same city?????
