Here is an interesting way to make  a guitar strap I found on an eco web site. I'm sure an old leather belt would be just as good, if not better, for making a guitar strap.

Maybe a tad uncomfortable with a heavy bass though.

Coool,
 I've gone back to a strap I made in high school
from an old comfy pair of jeans legs.  
 I stopped using animal products about a year ago...It's tough to find a good strap that doesn't
use skins.  
 A plus is jeans legs are wide (that tie looks
like it could dig in after an hour).
 Has anyone tried those beaded wood straps that look like  a car seat accessory from the 70's?

Canvas would be strong enough to make a decent strap from.

That's a great idea...I have a big roll of many yards,maybe doubled up with some padding and a nice clown vomit finish .
