Today would be Jerry Garcia's 70th birthday. Without him, this site and Alembic itself would likely not even exist - and my life would have taken a different turn many years ago. I know there are many in this club who feel the same way. So Happy Birthday Captain Trips. I hope there are Camel cigs in heaven!

Another unfortunate, premature death, despite his hard living. Health and taking care of one's self is critical nowadays, since we are living longer and as such, develop more complicated health issues at those later ages. I miss his influence and playing. Plus, he played with Ornette Coleman, just to learn about jazz (a la Neal Peart). It's not only rock'n'roll anymore!
Finally, I do have my own Touch of Grey, even if many think that was too commercial. Personally I thought it was a great video and tribute to Deadheads and dogs that like bones.

Happy 70th Jerry. I would not be living the life I love had it not been for him. American by birth Deadhead by choice!!

Sure miss him. My sister's b'day is also today. Always thought that was cool to have the same birthday as him.

Saw the Dead at Keil Auditorium in St. Louis in late fall of 1968 on a double bill with Iron Butterfly. Butterfly blew chunks, the Dead came out and lit the hall up for 3 hours. I don't think Butterfly even had that much material. Great show, orange wedge from a dude in the hallway, never forgotten. Learned a great deal that night, about everything. Thanks, Jerry. Good ice cream, too!

Sounds like a good excuse to play some music! Thank you Jerry!

Happy Birthday, Jer. I wore my Jerry hand print shirt to work today. I'm STILL learning a lot from you.

Tom; if possible, would love to see a pic of your flag on the pole.
