I thought you might like to see some shots of our new store - and in prime position, the Alembic department.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/393/51132.jpg)

Very cool. I love the Logo too. It would make a great T-shirt.
I'd buy one.

Man, if I lived down under that black Rogue would be mine!
Andy

David,
Nice looking store.
Great Alembic offering!
Best of things with your new venture.
Those pictures are incredible, great optimizing!
Obtaining that height and width while staying under 150KB and real nice clean shots.
Best,
Art
-
Andy,
I agree with you on that black Rogue- I had to physically restrain myself several times when I was living in NZ. I came *this* close to calling David, but was looking for a 5 at the time.
-
OO - how about this.

Just go to www.cafepress.com/basspeople (http://www.cafepress.com/basspeople)

Art - thanks for the kind words.
I can't claim to be an optimisation guru - I just use Save for web in Photoshop Elements - max compression, then dial down the image size until its under 150k. The shots were, however, taken by a professional photographer.

Nice looking store david. Need any more assistants?
I like the look of the T shirts too. Think I'll be ordering shortly ;-)
Graeme
-
Graeme - the commute could be a killer for you.
-
I certainly wouldn't manage it on my pushbike ;-)
-
My two favorites are the Excel and the Ric in the window.
-
I like that Excel too... is that Wenge on top?
-
Wish we had a store like that in Joisey! May you have every success.
-
No - the Excel is coco bolo.

Here's a better shot of the Excel.(http://club.alembic.com/Images/393/51158.jpg)

I call dibs on the Fender VI! What's the exchange rate on Australian vs. US dollars these days?
-
Since you insist...a couple more photos

Your store looks like a bass players heaven David. All the right gear that we can only dream of trying out up here. Please move it to Edinburgh. I could spend weeks in there;-)

cool stuff - the 8-string spider bass would be my first grab!
Last time I was in Sydney I bought a digiridoo from Digi Beat(?) right close to where the ferry runs up to Manly. Real nice lady there gave me tips on the circular breathing,,,, took tons of practice - then finally I stopped 'thinking' about it and it came!
Got some John Butler Trio, Yothu Yindi and David Hudson cd's from a shop in Manly,,, best trip I ever made was Down Under. Got engaged in the Cairns night market, snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, went up to Darwin (went to Twin Falls), then down to Sydney... I want to go back and do Ayers Rock.
Sorry about the ramblin', its Friday and I feel good!
-
Let's see; you went to Sydney and got a flute, went to a shop in Manly and got some CD's, went to a market in Cairns and got engaged, went to Darwin and .. whoa, back up, they have a market where you can get engaged?
Great store David!!
-
:-D
Actually you could do just about anything at the market.
-
As fate will have it, I was in David's store about 3 weeks ago. Great store!!!!
I don't know if you recall me, but I was the obnoxious American fellow. : )
-
You've got at least 2 Ritters in there as well... *drool*
-
Well done Dave, looks great I'll drop in nrxt time I'm down
-
Thanks for all the good vibes everyone. We've really tried hard to create bass heaven.
-
Very nice, David! Looks like a hi-fi store more than a music store (that's a compliment, Mate!).
Cheers,
Kevin
-
Kevin - well spotted. I worked in a hifi store while in high school and university. So it always struck me how much better most good hifi stores were at presenting their products than most music stores.
That was also the inspiration for the patch bay in our amp room. There is over 600 metres of hifi grade speaker cable running through the walls and ceiling, which connects every amp and speaker to a patch bay. So you can try any combination without having to rearrange the store.
-
David,
No worries, Mate! You should be very proud. I spent a lot of my youth (and adulthood) in many a hi-fi den of inequity as well, LOL!
My only problem with your fine establishment is that it's a H*ll of a drive from New Jersey to Sydney, LOL! I could certainly use a nice place like that to shop instead of Garbage Center or Sam's A**. The little guys just can't compete, and most of the few that are still around survive on giving lessons and/or performing repairs. The stores themselves more resemble a thrift (second-hand) store more than a hi-fi shop, unfortunately. I usually end up buying on the web just to avoid the unpleasantness of the music supermarket chains, and the local little guys that used to get all my dosh have all but dried-up or have no stock to speak of (only $100-$400 Asian-made stuff).
Bets of luck...looks like you have a real winner there!
Cheers,
Kevin

I've always been curious about Ritter basses but never seen on in the flesh nor consciously heard one.
What are they like?
I think they look pretty fantastic.

-
Kevin - we are certainly trying to give people reasons to come to us rather than a big chain or via the net. Hopefully there are enough people like you in Sydney to make the concept viable.
Jazzy - Ritters look, play and sound great - kind of like Alembic but different. Very versatile electronics - all bolt on necks. But a key reason I committed to Ritter was Jens Ritter himself. His passion is reminiscent of our friends in Santa Rosa. He is also an Alembic fan.
-
I am coming to Sydney from Perth this Thursday, and I sure hope I find the time to come and pay your shop a visit. I know I am going to be busy right across the weekend, but will really have to try to squeeze a little cab trip in from the city I think.
Cheers
Richard

Hope you can make it in. We just got a huge shipment of Epifani, Schroeder, Acme.
